We are a self-organized space for children and youth (up to 31 years old) to contribute to and engage in certain intergovernmental and allied policy processes at the United Nations and realize our collective right to meaningful youth engagement as enshrined in the Declaration of the Rights of the Child and other UN compacts. Our work so far with our key allies – IOM and UNICEF – has shown the potential of young people’s participation in decision-making. Since 2018 we have taken the lead on consulting with youth stakeholders around the world and engaged them in the key areas where migration issues are discussed – the Global Compact on Migration (GCM) and the Global Forum on Migration and Development (GFMD).

We facilitate the collective participation of young people in official, formal and informal avenues
of policy design, implementation, monitoring, follow-up, and review at all levels.
We facilitate activities for young people to enhance their understanding, knowledge, and skills in relation to migration policy making, sustainable development, meaningful engagement, and the
UN system/intergovernmental processes.
We provide young people with a platform that encourages them to consult, lead, join, showcase,
and share innovative and effective actions addressing the needs of migrants and host
communities.
Provide young people a platform for dialogue to create an evidence base for best practices
through the assessment of existing knowledge, generating new knowledge, identification of
emerging issues, and effective use and dissemination.

MYCP is part of the Major Group for Children and Youth (MGCY) – the official, formal and self-organised space for children and youth (aged below 30) to contribute to and engage in certain intergovernmental and allied policy processes at the UN since 1992. Our mission is to bridge children and youth and the UN system, with a focus on migration issues, in order to ensure that their right to meaningful participation is realised. We do so by engaging children and youth entities in formal and informal forms in the design, implementation, monitoring, follow-up and review of sustainable development policies at all levels in four areas: Policy & Advocacy, Capacity Building, Youth Action and Knowledge.
